Jayashri took up roti making business because it requires very little investment. During a survey she conducted in the MOVE training, she found that there is a huge demand for rotis locally. Jayashri said “I decided to start Jowar roti making and selling business because there is good demand for it. Also, Jowar is a locally grown crop and is easily available in Vijayapura at a very reasonable price. Since I know how to prepare rotis since my childhood, I find the preparation process very easy.” Most of her customers are locals and people from neighbouring villages and small hotels around the village.

Jayashri sells her rotis at a reasonable price since her customer base are people from very poor economic backgrounds. Jayashri said that she is able to earn around INR 7,000 per month and has so far, been able to save INR 9,000 in her bank account, since she started the business. Jayashri said, “The money I earn is sufficient for my livelihood. This business gives me happiness and pleasure as I am helping the hungry and the poor”. Going forward Jayashri wants to expand her business by supplying for functions and taking up party orders.
