Madhubala is a Jogappa aged 35. She is a Dalit person and stays in Shorapura Taluk. Ttwenty years of her life were very difficult with issues like gender dysphoria and caste oppression. She joined the Jogappas and learned to dance and sing. Society respects the Jogappas as they are associated with God and religion and she found solace in the Jogappa culture and earned a livelihood through singing and dancing.
Madhubala joined as a member of Ashakirana after joining the Jogappas. The CBO supported her in getting a Maitri pension, and transgender loans. After acquiring a loan, she started goat farming with three goats and two lambs. Her business was going well and recently in the year 2022-2023, she applied for the Ugyogini loan of INR 3 lakhs from the Women and Child Development Department, which she eventually acquired after much difficulty. Ashakirana hand held her through the application processes and supported her to start her own business. Today, she has 25 lambs and 10 goats and runs her business successfully. She goes for the Jogappa collection on Tuesdays and Fridays and on the remaining days, she focuses on her business.
