Mundadugu Adarsha Mahila Federation

About the Member

Registered under Societies Act in 2005, the federation has its office at Husnabad and Akkanapeta, Siddipet District. This federation has formed Issue-based Committees like – Legal Committee, Governance and Economic Sustainable Committee, Entitlement Committee, Education Committee, Natural Resource Management Committee and Health Committee. Through these committees, the Committee Members have taken responsibilities and are giving training and awareness to the sangha women on leadership, documentation, gender-based violence, organic farming, awareness on seasonal crops, inter-generational conflict, personal hygiene for women and girl children, sex education for the youth and information on how to access entitlements. 

 

 

The CBO is working with women, youth and adolescents having 1021 women and 367 youth and adolescents out of 30 sanghas and 28 Bala sanghas covering 54 villages. There are 8 villages having collective farming – 5 paddy cultivation villages, 2 vegetable cultivation villages and one village involved in rearing goats.

 

Federations was Registered under Societies Act, and have their offices at Saidapur, Karimnagar District and Husnabad, respectively. The federations work with Women, Youth and Adolescents. These federations have formed Issue-based Committees like, Legal Committee (Nyaya Committee), Governance and Economic Sustainable Committee, Entitlement Committee, Education Committee, Natural Resource Management Committee and Health Committee. The Committee Members have taken responsibilities and give training and awareness to Sangha women on leadership, documentation, Gender-Based Violence, Organic Farming, Awareness on seasonal crops, Intergenerational conflicts, Personal Hygiene for Women and Girl Children, Sex Education for Youth and How to access Entitlements.

Key Activities

Some of the content addressed in trainings implemented in federation included, (1) Intergenerational Dialogue, Gender Equality and Digital Literacy (2) Child Marriages, Patriarchy and Power Relations (3) Women and Child Rights.

Nyaya Committee

The Nyaya Committee has been formed by the Federation. This committee consists of seven members. They deal with domestic violence, love-marriage issues, POCSO issues etc. Those issues which can be solved through counselling are solved by this committee. If it is not solved through their counselling, they connect with Sakhi Center (One Stop Center) or raise an FIR in the police station. The Nyaya Committee receives training on various Laws and Acts from time to time.

 

Apart from Nyaya Committee, other Committees are also being given capacity building from time to time. Intergenerational Dialogue, Gender Equality and Digital Literacy: Intergenerational Dialogues were conducted to bring the old and the young generations together, to participate and share their experiences, issues and challenges and reduce gaps between them, to sensitise the problems of adolescents and youth before their parents and adults, and to develop coordination, cooperation and understanding between the two generations in the society. Both mothers and adolescent girls have participated in this training. 

 

Girls and boys were trained on many important aspects. Some of these include training on Gender, Sexuality, Substance Abuse, Personal Hygiene were conducted at KGBV Schools for Girls and Government Colleges for Boys. Other trainings included gender equality in food, family and goals, how to bring-up girls and boys in a family, how to see gender equality in everything, and gender-sensitisation to parents by children. Case studies were used to teach sexuality, how to identify the difference between love and attraction and how to concentrate on career goals. Training was also given on the ill effects of substance use, personal hygiene and importance of having a balanced diet, how to keep our surroundings clean.

Mahila Mela

The federations conducted Mahila Melas and rallies as part of the 16 days Activism. Slogans were raised and wall-writings were done in villages to highlight the issue of violence against women. All institutions like Gram Panchayati, ASHA Workers, School Teachers, Police Department, SHE Teams, local NGOs and rights-based organisations participated in this programme, along with nearly, 400 federation members. They spoke about their Sanghas and how they received benefit from Sanghas and how they got courage over the years. They also shared how they helped the school drop-outs come to the mainstream. They discussed the benefits of coming together as a collective. They undertook a four km rally and prepared and distributed pamphlets. It is everyone’s right to have a safe society. The pamphlets contained how government has created Laws for Women and Child-Rights and how it was interested in implementing them mandatorily and transparently.
