Our Work
The Grass Roots Collectives (formerly known as the Alliance of Feminist Collectives) began its journey in 2015 committed to creating supportive spaces, building a national platform and empowering grassroots federations and community-based organizations (CBOs).
Primary Focus Areas
Gender Based Violence
The Alliance responded to the increasing incidents of GBV, especially arising due to the pandemic lockdown in a variety of ways.
Institutional Strengthening
With a focus on making federations and collectives autonomous and sustainable, the alliance embarked on targeted capacity building initiatives
Resilience Building
The Alliance responded to the increasing incidents of GBV, especially arising due to the pandemic lockdown in a variety of ways.
Covid Response
The Alliance raised INR 3 crore CSR funds to provide vulnerable people and families with essentials during the COVID-19 lockdown crisis.
Interventions with Adolescents
Adolescent girls are one of the most vulnerable groups in the community. The lack of information, coupled with patriarchal restrictions and societal myths, sets the platform for them to fall prey to various challenges.
Livelihoods
With a focus on urban female sex workers, the alliance obtained funding for projects in the South of India, aimed at creating a robust system for entrepreneurship.
Funding Support
The growth of this alliance from a small group to its current membership of 21 grassroots collectives, has been made possible with support from the Azim Premji Foundation, American Jewish World Service (AJWS), and Ford Foundation, among others.
